I have a relative that was in the war and he was called George (my brother) he went in 1914.
He went in the early hours of Saturday morning before he went I said “please can you be careful”.
When he went I could not stop looking at photos of him growing up then I started saying prayers .
When he went I did all of the laundry because all of the men went to fight for their country.
While I was gone I had to get him out of my head but when they told me a story of their relatives that have died.
When I got home I then turned the radio on and then it said “all of the people have died for a few”.
I then burst into tears then my husband came along and then said “is he back yet?” and then I said “Well do you think he has”?
So he tried to get a hold of one of his friends to try and say “has my Son come back, he is called George?”
The answer was “No he did not.” So I had to do something about it so I had to hold a funeral so then we could remember him when he came back.
That is the story of my relative.
